Simple Blessings — Where Diligence Meets Faithfulness
The days are getting warmer, but some are still calling for the warmth of the cookstove. While Mother Nature is still deciding how soon to usher in summer's hot days, we remain faithful in our duties to get things done according to the season we are in. Flower beds need cleaning after winter's harsh weather, the garden needs planting, trees need trimming, and new projects sit on the ready.
It’s tempting to rush ahead—to wish for what’s next, to skip the work of this moment. But there is something holy about showing up and doing honest work, in the season we’ve been given. Whether it’s raking out winter's debris or turning soil with care, each small act of faithfulness isn’t just “chores.” It’s an offering.
When we lean into the work, we notice how God often reveals love and goodness in the middle of it. Psalm 33 says He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. That increase doesn’t always feel like a shout. Sometimes it’s a quiet blessing—a cooler breeze while we hoe, a neighbor’s blessing on a shared corner, the calm that settles over a garden row where the rows are straight and the soil is ready.
Being faithful doesn’t mean we never feel tired or impatient. It means we don’t stop when the work is hard. We trust, too, that rest can be part of our faithfulness—not just something we manage around the work. Good seasons require fullness of season.
Our simple homestead, our family tables, and even the bread we shape—each finds meaning in the hands that frame them. Diligence and faithfulness, woven together, become part of something larger than itself. They become part of how we love God and love our neighbors one task, one day, one season at a time.
May the work of this season become a quiet witness—in your garden row, your kitchen hearth, or wherever God has you laboring. May you find His faithfulness here, and may your daily labor become a quiet prayer.
